The City of Albany, located in the San Francisco Bay Area, is dedicated to fostering a strong sense of community, sustainability, and inclusivity. As a graphic designer for the city, I collaborate across departments to develop print and digital materials that engage residents and support city initiatives, from recreation programs to DEI campaigns.

City of Albany Rebranding & Website Revamp

One of the most significant projects I’ve worked on for the City of Albany was leading the rebranding effort, which included designing a new city logo and creating comprehensive brand guidelines. This project was aimed at giving the city a refreshed visual identity that better reflects its values, modernizes its public image, and strengthens its presence across various platforms.

The logo and brand guidelines I developed will be implemented with the upcoming launch of the city’s new website, which I’ve also contributed to. I worked on designing the overall visual elements and color themes for the site to ensure it aligns with the new branding. From layout to typography to imagery, every detail was carefully considered to create a cohesive and user-friendly experience for residents and visitors alike.

This project represents a major milestone in the city’s efforts to enhance its public-facing identity and improve engagement with the community. I’m excited to see these changes come to life and to continue contributing to the city’s evolving vision.

Activity Guides

As the graphic designer for the City of Albany, I design the seasonal activity guides, published three times a year to feature community classes, events, and programs. Each guide spans 40 to 50 pages, and I handle the overall layout in Adobe InDesign, ensuring a clean, engaging design that’s easy to navigate.

I work closely with the Recreation and Community Services department to update content, design event graphics, and select or photograph imagery. All images are formatted in .TIF and meet print specifications for CMYK before coordinating production with Casey Printing and uploading the final guide online.

These guides serve as an essential resource, connecting Albany residents to local opportunities for recreation, education, and community engagement.

DEI Initiatives

As part of the City of Albany’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, I design posters and digital assets to celebrate various heritage months throughout the year, including Black History Month, Women’s History Month, LGBTQIA+ Pride Month, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and Native American Heritage Month.

Each project involves creating visually engaging posters and digital content for both the city’s website and the digital bulletin board at the community center and City Hall. The posters highlight historically significant figures, showcasing their life stories, achievements, and contributions to society.

My role includes designing these materials to be informative and visually consistent, ensuring that each month’s theme is reflected through compelling graphics and thoughtful storytelling. These assets help foster a deeper understanding of our community’s diverse history and encourage engagement in DEI initiatives across Albany.
